National Advocacy Updates:
From League of American Bicyclists: You Asked – Congress Acted!
We're ending 2014 with a big win for bicycling: This month, Congress signaled its support for a national goal to reduce bicyclist and pedestrian fatalities — an effort we've been championing for two years, and one that many spoke with legislators about during the 2014 National Bike Summit. From Rails-to-Trails Conservancy: Poll Reveals Broad Support for Federal Investment in Biking and Walking
In September, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy engaged leading Republican and Democratic pollsters to find out what likely 2016 voters really thought about the federal role in encouraging active transportation. The poll results show that four times as many voters favor increasing or maintaining current levels of federal investment in walking and biking paths as decreasing them (74 percent – 19 percent) and that strong majorities support this funding regardless of political affiliation. With a new federal transportation bill due to be negotiated in 2015, it is vitally important that the message contained in these poll findings are broadly heard. Visit this page for more details on the poll results.
