Wish for Our Heroes Announces Inaugural RIDE INDIANA, Presented by Kroger
500-Mile Cycling Event Across Indiana Will Benefit Hoosier Troops; Riders will gather at Bicycle Garage Indy North on Tuesday Sept. 16 @ 4 pm
Wish for Our Heroes is pleased to announce the first-ever RIDE INDIANA, a 5-day, 500 mile cycling endurance event, to support members of the United States Armed Forces. The Noblesville-based national charity has partnered with grocery retail giant, The Kroger Co., which will have an active role in the inaugural event.
Bicycle Garage Indy is pleased to be involved with the event by providing the location for riders to gather prior to going to their start location in Warsaw. Additional support provided by Bicycle Garage Indy includes promotional support, as well as tools and supplies to help the riders along their journey.
The riders will be at Bicycle Garage Indy North, 4340 E. 82nd St., Indianapolis on Tuesday, September 16 at 4 pm. The public is invited to meet the riders and show support for their efforts. Media interviews with riders will be available between 4 and 5 pm.
RIDE INDIANA will begin Wednesday, September 17th in Warsaw, Indiana and will have stops in South Bend, Lafayette, Bloomington, Columbus, and conclude in Indianapolis at Monument Circle on Sunday, September 21st. A total of 15 riders will cycle an average of 7 hours per day as a team, at a rate of 15 mph until nearly 500 miles are completed. A number of celebrity and military riders will join the event for various legs of the ride, including former Governor Mitch Daniels, Mayor Greg Ballard, and George Hill of the Indiana Pacers. The ride will be led by 3 combat-wounded heroes.
“This is the first event of its kind in Indiana, and we are thrilled to already have so much community support, starting with our title sponsor, Kroger, who continuously contributes to our efforts in supporting the troops,” said Ken Holder, Event Coordinator for Wish for Our Heroes.

Hoosiers across the state are welcome to support the ride by meeting the riders at Bicycle Garage Indy on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 4-5 pm, by lining the streets of their community or by attending one of the events at the scheduled stops below:
September 17: Warsaw to South Bend (6:15am at Owens Supermarket- 2211 E Center St, Warsaw, IN)
September 18: South Bend to Lafayette (10:30am at Kroger- 2040 Peace Tree Village, Rochester, IN)
September 19: Lafayette to Bloomington (6:00am at Pay Less Supermarket- 65 Beck Lane, Lafayette, IN)
September 20: Bloomington to Columbus (3:30pm at Kroger- 3110 N National Rd, Columbus, IN)
September 21: Columbus to Indianapolis (11am: Kroger- 3100 Meridian Parke Dr, Greenwood, IN)
Conclusion: 3:30pm at Monument Circle (Indianapolis)
