Since the middle of June, Bicycle Garage Indy staff has been traveling all over the U.S. for company “dealer camps” and meetings. While there, they are are allowed to get a first hand look at new products for the coming 2015 model year. Sometime we have to keep quiet about what we are shown, and sometimes it goes public immediately. Here are a few of the bits that are now public, and that we are very excited to begin sharing with you.
Giant, who last year led the charge into 27.5” wheels with most of their mountain bikes, has now committed to road disc brakes on all of their carbon frame bikes in the popular Defy endurance road bike series. These bikes have been designed from the ground up for disc brakes, and for endurance ride comfort, using the D-Fuse seat tube design first seen on their TCX Cyclocross bikes. Combined with the latest groupos from Shimano, these are going to be some very exciting bikes.
In 2015, Giant will also be expanding the presence of the LIV line of women's bicycle and related products, with more women specific features and design considerations throughout. This means the Avail (the women's version of the Defy) will also be all new, and exclusively road disc, in all the carbon frames models.
Trek is also offering road disc brakes in some new Domane series bikes, and just introduced a new road bike, the Émonda, which is focused on lightweight design. While top of of the line Emonda was provided to Trek Factory Racing for the Tour De France, Trek will trickle down Émonda technology to offer a series of bikes, as it has done with Domane and Madone. Both disc brake Domane and Émonda models will begin arriving at Bicycle Garage Indy later in August and throughout the fall.
