Starting just north of Kokomo in Cassville, the the Nickel Plate Trail is a paved rail trail that winds its way to Rochester, IN, for a round tip of almost 80 miles. The trail crosses the Wabash and Eel Rivers, and numerous small creeks. It also passes through a number of small cities and town, including Peru and Denver. The Nickel Plate offers a unique combination of shaded gentle grades, and stretches through rolling farmland.
Eight of us met to ride all or part of the Nickel Plate this weekend. We coordinated our our star times with different locations to meet along the way and all enjoy lunch in Rochester, and then returned to Peru for ice cream. It was a perfect day of riding on a hidden gem of a trail!
