If weight loss is your goal, then you should seriously consider both aerobic exercise as well as a strengthening program. The reason is two-fold. Aerobic exercise will allow you to burn calories both during the exercise session as well as up to 1-hour post exercise. The strengthening program will add muscle mass to your frame, effectively increasing your rate of calorie burn (basal metabolic rate).
